The 19th Jeonju International Film Festival’s International Competition Now Closed for Entries
- 321 entries for International Competition, 162 entries for fiction films
- Films submitted from 70 countries; 30 from Russia, 29 from USA, 23 from Italy
The 19th Jeonju International Film Festival (Festival Director LEE Choong-jik) closed entries for the International Competition.
During the period of December 1st of 2017 January 31st of 2018, total of 321 films were submitted; 107 Word Premiere Films, 147 Asia Premiere Films, 3 International Premiere Films.
For ‘World Premiere Films’ (feature films that have not screened in anywhere before); 54 fiction films, 43 documentary films, 7 experimental films and 3 others have been entered.
For ‘Asian Premiere Films’ (feature films that have not screened in Asian countries before); 72 fiction films, 62 documentary films, 6 experimental films and 7 others have been submitted.
For ‘International Premiere Films’ (feature films that have not screened outside its own production domicile); 2 fiction films and 1 documentary film have been handed in.
Details of the entered films by genre showed strengths in fiction films and documentary films; 162 fiction films, 133 documentary films and 16 experimental films in total.
70 countries have participated in the entry with Russia highest in participation with 30 films, followed by USA with 29 films, and by Italy with 23 films.
The Executive Committee of Jeonju IFF states that, “This year, Jeonju IFF has confirmed a heightened status in the world, based on the diversified participation of the films. We will do the best in selecting the finalists and gear up for the upcoming festival.”
The finalists will be selected carefully and be announced in March. The finalists will showcase at the 19th Jeonju International Film Festival, which will be held from May 3rd to May 12th.
