Today, a white well is empty but simultaneously full of events. The unpredictable choices of a spectator become data and it is this probability that gazes at the camera.
There are people trapped inside the well and people travelling down it. The camera moves through several intersecting points and heads towards the same place. Questions like ‘Do you have a cigarette?’ and ‘Is this a white well?’ either pile up or fall apart. The upward and downward movements overlap and the white well flickers between the two. When ghosts roam inside the empty well, we’re only offered movements crushed into electronic signals and incomplete images like collapsing pixels. We remain inside the empty well much like the ‘cloud’ data storage system devoid of hardware. Is this voluntary detainment? Suddenly, the camera leaves the murky place and jumps onto a train where the artificial windows show a designed landscape. #cloud is an extension of Paik Jongkwan’s experimental work using digital images and sounds.
