Born in 1979, he began his work in cinema at the age of 15. After making two short films, he wrote and directed his first feature film, Sangre(2005), a Un Certain Regard winner at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. His second feature, Los Bastrados(2008), was also presented in Cannes‘ Un Certain Regard. His previous film Heil received the Best Director Award at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. The Untamed is his fourth feature film.
