The position of film director Marco Ferrari is extraordinary in Italian Film History. He was a person with whom most people avoid working together, classified as a radical left artist with Pierre Paolo Pasolini. In [#i_]Marco Ferreri: Dangerous but Necessary[_i#], Anselma Dell´olio sheds light on the life and art of Ferrari, a ´dangerous´ artist, and examines his reputation as an innovator and the history of his films which are subjected to malicious criticism due to censorship and scandal. It contains the sincerely supportive comments from Mastroianni, Tognazzi, Piccoli and other actors, and the interpretation from Dante Ferretti, an art director collaborating with him, and Serge Toubiana, a former publisher of the 『Cahiers du Cinema』. The search for Ferrari opens the door to reconsider the concept of the illusion and the cinema. [JANG Byungwon]
