[#i_]Theater of War[_i#] is an essay film about how the war could be represented by the play staging with the past enemies. British and Argentine soldiers, who fought the Malvinas Falklands War in 1982, gather 35 years later to discuss, recreate, and perform their memories. The project, started four years ago, has evolved from an installation exhibit into making a film with people who participated in " the post-war", an art event. Argentine multimedia artist Lola Arias brings experiences of war, such as the will to survival, hostility, fear, humanity, and reconciliation, to war veterans. All scenes such as auditions, meetings and discussions are true but seem theatrical. The process of playfully crossing reality and fiction is not only what they experience first, but also what they had already rehearsed in terms of their memory. [JANG Byungwon]
