The project [#i_]Streetscapes[_i#] is a series composed four films on the themes of architecture and landscape by experimental cineaste Heinz Emigholz. The final piece of the series, this film loosely takes the form of a ´traditional story line´. It is based on a six-day long conversation between trauma psychologist Zohar Rubinstein and Emigholz. The two men are sitting in a brick building somewhere in Montevideo, Uruguay. Streets, alleys, highways, walking trails talk about childhood with German fugitives and traumatized people shortly after World War II. The topic of conversation moves to obsessive interest in architecture, manic-depressive writing, working with film cameras, and the way for survival of older filmmakers. Buildings, streets and streets are another of these conversation partners. [JANG Byungwon]
