The third feature film from Park Youngim after [#i_]The Romance of a Mediocre Actress and a Short Bald Man[_i#](2015) and [#i_]The Name of the Nameless[_i#](2016) takes its title from Ki Hyeongdo’s famous poem and features a poet named Kim. One day her husband disappears without a word, and she finds an abandoned dog by the reservoir. She struggles to get on with life but things only get tougher every day. Instead of filling her days with special events, the film offers an internal rhythm that flows by, focusing on contemplative descriptions of the character and her surroundings. Despite the frivolous reality, Kim writes poetry and embraces objects and living things, thereby showing a portrait of an artist. As with Park’s other works, the film is tinged with her autobiographical confession and lovingly gazes upon small things in life. [LEE Sang-yong]
