In 1958, documentary director Claude Lanzmann visited North Korea as a member of European leftist cultural delegation. During the visit, he met Keumsun Kim, a Red Cross nurse who came to the hotel room to give a vitamin shot, and their romance was not known. In the film, Lanzmann goes to North Korea to find a woman in the past. A moment with a beautiful nurse in a system that does not allow communication with the outside, or a meeting with a woman dispatched to watch for him. [#i_]Napalm [_i#]consists of two storylines, in1958 and 2017. This short and breathtaking story is a true story of Lanzmann, reminiscent of John Le Carre´s novel. The film tells the real reason why he was going back to the North Korea after 60 years. Many images taken up with a closeup on Lanzmann´s face in Pyongyang originally present it the reality in tune with his narration in voice-over. [JANG Byungwon]
