A story of a man trapped in hell. Georg barely escapes the occupied area in Paris and headed to Marseille. In Marseilles that people visit and leave, he meets the widow and son of the writer and the mysterious woman Marie. [#i_]Transit[_i#] is a mysterious story, like seeing [#i_]´Casablanca[_i#](1942) that Franz Kafka would have written´. The character Georg is deprived of Rick´s romance in Casablanca. Adapting the novel by Anna Seghers in 1944, Christian Petzold sets in Europe in the present instead of World War II. Polarization, terrorism, refugees, bureaucracy, etc. are select\ed as the theme, but the concrete reality is volatilized. Georg´s confusion or Marie´s crisis functions just like a code for fear without context. The surrealist political thriller that flows through a melancholic rhythm. [JANG Byungwon]
