The long awaited Nanouk Leopold´s latest film. In [#i_]Cobain[_i#], named after a punk singer who died young, the character Cobain´s life is as desolate as that of his model. Cobain, ready to do anything to take care of drug addict mother Mia, visits the pimp of the street. He gets the money and learns how to live in the world by putting the prostitutes in the truck. One of the impressive scenes is that Cobain is dressing up as a woman in the hotel bathroom and secretly stealing the proceeds of Adel, a prostitute from Romania, in elaborate combination of acting, mise-en-scene, and music. Except for Cobain ´s unconditional love for Mia, the film keeps a level. Like with[#i_] It´s All So Quiet[_i#](2013), it is ´nature´ where the weary characters of Leopod find rest. The self-destructive tone is softened only for a very short moment for Cobain and Mia to stay in the woods. [JANG Byungwon]
