High school girl Amiko has a huge crush on Aomi, a cute boy from the school´s football team, so much so that she almost worships him. Aomi’s overwhelming charms set him apart from other pitifully ordinary students. Every moment of every day, Amiko thinks of Aomi. She just can’t bear it when Aomi runs away from home and disappears. Director Yamanaka Yoko depicts Amiko’s youthful energy as lively and free-spirited. Amiko’s passionate crush and feelings of self-love go hand in hand with her cynical self-depreciation, much like the two sides of a coin. Viewed from a different angle, this internal lack of harmony makes her all the more lovable. The film flawlessly captures the protagonist´s unique personality on the screen. [KIM Youngjin]
