A non-fiction film directed by Robert Greene of [#i_]Kate Plays Christine[_i#](2016), [#i_]Bisbee ´17 [_i#]is set in the old mine city Bisbee, less than seven miles from both Tombstone and the US-Mexico border, which had once a copper mine that made it the richest in the state, but now it is a ruined town. The film dramatically represents the history of deporting immigrants in Bisbee in 1917. It describes the darkest days to disclose the identity of the town. There coexist the different stories about the past. The unconventional documentary director Greene explores in a rough but lyrical way about the ghosts of the past that he would rather forget. [#i_]Bisbee ´17 [_i#]is hard to conclude that it is only a story about Bisbee in Arizona, exploring the relationship of truth, reality, and myth. The ghost is right out of our range of vision, but it follows us. [JANG Byungwon]
