The new film of Camilla Jose Donoso who proved her talent with [#i_]Naomi Campbell[_i#](2013) and [#i_]Casa Roshell[_i#](2017),[#i_] NONA. If You Soak Me, I Will Burn You [_i#]is a mysterious drama about a female anarchist warrior. ´Nona´ is a character based on inspiration from Josefina Ramirez, the director´s real grandmother. Donoso´s aesthetics of the interplay between documentary and fiction, is maintained in this film too. The script is freely mixed with the real story of Josefina and the recreation from her life. The low-resolution video image capturing Josefina´s daily life and the fiction dealing with Nona´s story are presented in parallel. Fiction comes out of reality, and reality becomes a commentary on fiction. Strong characters and mysterious plots seem familiar, but the aesthetic adventure, we have not seen before, changes the rules of the cinema. [JANG Byungwon]
