This is a film adaptation of the best-selling novel by Paolo Giordano. The film follows the fate of two outcasts. Mattia and Alice have secrets of their own. Their past and the secrets haunt them. To control their lives, the two attempt to go beyond their memories. As they grow older, their fate becomes more chaotic. The original novelist collaborated to write the screenplay, chose 4 crucial moments in their lives, and compared the lives of the past and those as adults. Each illustration are carefully select\ed or juxtaposed according to the internal logic. The film traces the origin of individual pathology with meticulously planned narration. The audiovisual elements from classic Italian horror films give surprises. Saverio Costanzo created an emotionally powerful film by emphasizing images of distorted perception and dreams.
