Libera Nos is about the comeback of exorcism around the world. More people say they are possessed. The number of trained exorcist priests is increased in response to the psychological emergency. Father Cataldo is one of the most famous exorcists in Sicily. He is known for his persistent will to fight. Gloria, Enrico, Anna, and Giulia go to see him every Tuesday in hopes to cure their anxiety. This is a story about the interaction between the act of exorcism and everyday life and the conflict between the tradition and the present, the religion and the common customs. Federica di Giacomo started the project after years of research. An exorcist is a metaphor for the time that seeks quick, sure cures. Libera Nos isn’t about religion: by showing the perspective of those who experience this process, it is about how religion is experienced today. [JANG Byungwon]
