Debut film of Aleksey German by joint production between Grigori Aronov and German 1967. This is a film that clearly verifies German´s movie attributes. The Seventh Companion was drafted with Russian novelist Boris Andreyevich Lavrenyov´s novel and used Red Terror in Russia of 1918 led by Vladimir Lenin as a subject matter. Major General Adamov was arrested and then released during Imperial Russia. However, after the Russian Revolution, Adamov´s apartment is a commune for the mass. After losing his place, Adamov tries to return to the front. This is a story of historical transition that features all the elements characterized as a German movie: vagarious people, hybrid in chronotope, protagonist & assisting roles and the chaotic presentation method that breaks the boundary between the main plot and the subplot.
