  • Review

Cate Blanchett performs 13 different roles by herself to unfold, explain, and declare various art manifestos of the 20th century, including Situationism, Futurism, Suprematism, Representationalism, Dadaism, Pop Art, Stridentism, Fluxus, Vorticism, Der Blaue Reiter, Abstract Expressionism, Surrealism, and Minimalism. Each manifesto was performed in an art gallery and edited into one film. The director is also working on another edit. Therefore, it is about various changes and creations than about completing one finished piece. The film allows the viewers to experience different art theories in our lives. Manifesto is a comprehensive review of the history of 20th-century aesthetics. By breaking the barrier between galleries and theaters, Manifesto boldly strives to be the textbook on esthetics through cinematic images. [LEE Sang-yong
