The story begins 20 years later. Mark Renton, once fled with load of money returns to Edinburgh and sees that his old friends´ lives have not changed much since 20 years ago including Spud and Sick Boy. Of them all, Mark´s biggest and threatening betrayal Begbie only longs for Mark to be punished. The two finally meets on the street of Edinburgh where their pursuit battle of 20 year ago incident begins. The young boys of Scotland have grown into adults yet the race against tough reality still continues. Director Danny Boyle does not focus on old friends being reunited but the losers of Edinburgh even after much time has passed. The film has a few scenes ruminating over time; however, the lives of old friends still remain the same over the years. Drug, sex and challenges the friends are facing in finding right guidance of life and their reunion. [LEE Sang-yong]
