After the terrorist attack that struck French magazine 『Charlie Hebdo』in January 2015, Raymond Depardon decided to film the people of France. For three months, he went throughout France, passing the suburbs of Paris. France compiles the record of Raymond Depardon as he interacts with people from the last village of his long journey. An elder who suffers from loneliness, a youth who is discouraged about his future, a woman who tries to overcome her failed marriage?the interview talks about their lifes and the city, their relationships, loves, desires and fears. One question might arise after watching the film: Out of all people, why them? They are the dear reflection of what France has become today. The footage filmed natrually from the camping car’s window symbolizes the frame and the lens that looks out on the world. [JANG Byungwon]
