Documentary director Dominique Cabrera puts French writer Maylis de Kerangal’s work on screen. In Marseille´s seaside town, Corniche Kennedy, high school student Susan enters a teenage cliff jumping group. As the local mafia and the detectives get tangled, things get complicated. The core of Corniche Kennedy is the ´Corniche Kennedy´ itself, which symbolizes the way of being a teenager. This cliffs surrounded road is a habitat for teenagers and it suggests there is more than meets the eye. The winding roads and rocks, the blue sea, and the jumping off the cliffs symbolize the dangerous yet beautiful life of a teenager. Cabrera, a Corniche Kennedy person himself, creates a magical story of safety and danger. This film reveals more as a poetic documentary rather than a fiction due to the fact that the space he loves is used as a stage. [JANG Byungwon]
