Set in 1985 Chile during the peak of Pinochet’s reign, Director Ignacio Aguero asks his colleagues in film about the idea of making a film about this era. This results into his short film, This is the Way I Like It(1985). 30 years later, as Chilean cinema is receiving attention in the global market, Aguero brings up the subject again, throwing the question to young Chilean directors. He visits Pablo Larrain, Sebastian Lelio, Jose Luis Torres Leiva with a camera and bluntly asks them. “What do movies mean to you?” Every director answers differently. The film also focuses on the participants at the Film Directing Workshop as two parts of the film act as question and answer. Visiting the past, present, and future, Aguero continues to explore each person’s love of movies. The answers of the untold stories are left blank for you to fill. [JANG Byungwon]
