As a film adaptation of 『The Body Artist』 by Don DeLillo, Benoit Jacquot’s Never Ever presents powerful, ghost-like images. Rey, played by Mathieu Amalric, is a film director. One day, he meets Laura and falls in love. Capricious Rey often becomes the topic of gossip or be under pressure, but he never stops riding his bike. One day, he dies from an accident or a possible suicide. Then the story focuses on Laura who is left alone. The transformation from the agonizing director to the women with the burden of fate is carried out slowly like a dream. Laura is not alone. The night is the time dominated by the dream. Benoit Jacquot explores the time and space of dream and night, capturing the uncatchable time of ghost with cinematic images. It is the time that never stops and the boundary of the sense of loss and death. [LEE Sang-yong]
