Overview

The Stooges’ aggressive style of rock-n-roll blew a crater in the musical landscape of the late 1960s and planted the seeds for what would be called punk and alternative rock in the decades that followed.

The documentary Gimme Danger about Iggy Pop and his punk band, ‘The Stooges´. It is tribute by Jim Jarmusch that to view Iggy Pop with awe througha variety of means. Gimme Danger is definately not like Jarmusch´s other films, and even though he was one of the actors´s behind Coffee and Cigarettes(2003), it is hard to say that Iggy Pop is the type of protagonist featured in Jarmusch´s films. Remembered as the man smoking in Coffee and Cigarettes, Gimme Danger does not bring up Iggy Pop as anything more than someone in rock band. The typical images of a punk band, alcoholics and drug addicts are nowhere to be seen. The documentary’s focus is not on his personal life, and there are several scenes where Iggy is passionately singing, portraying the best of his early years and his artistic soul through his interviews.
