Nightlife is an ethical play about choice. A successful lawyer Milan is wounded, tattered abandoned at night on the streets. He is discovered by passersby and gets help, but during the police investigation a dildo at the crime scene comes up as an issue. Milan´s wife is nervous and wants to cover it up. Nightlife deals with a crisis that can ruin careers and reputation due to bad decisions and mistakes. Instead coming to Milan’s aid, the bystanders snap photos of the scene and upload them on social media. This is common example with media attention seekers who expose their lives. Director Kozole reveals the vanity of people. Some people try to expose, when some people want to hide. The film cynically depicts the era of ‘exhibitionism,’ we live in. Winner of the 51st Karlovy Vary International Film Festival director award. [JANG Byungwon]
