Despite the doctor’s disapproval, Manolo and his donkey Gorrion travels to the west. The 73 year-old elderly man who is suffering from megalomania is this day and age Donkeyote. With his Sancho Panza, the donkey, he decides to travel 2,200 miles. This road is also called ‘Trails of Tears’ because of its devastating events that happened to the Indians. Completely different from Manolo, Gorrion stays right by his side and displays great trust and friendship. Many scenes ? interactions on the streets ? include elements of a road movie documentary. There are many films that deals with human and animal companionship but not many films focus on the meaning of existence. Donkeyote is not just about a journey of an odd man but a road that must be crossed together. Hard, but definitely possible with each other. [Lee Sang-yong]
