After 10 years abroad, Catherine returns to hometown Luxembourg. Her daughter Alba grew up so much and her long departure makes their relationship awkward. Alba spends more time with Catherine and slowly opens up to her, but Catherine´s unstable identity invites bitter feelings between the two. Barrage is a women´s psychological drama that deals with subtle relationships attributions. Communication is a mutual act and it needs both parties to be committed. Catherine´s efforts to restore intimacy seem to work at first, but there are many problems to be solved. Actress Isabelle Huppert and Lolita Chammah, real life mother and daughter play the mother and giving the film an autobiographical nuance. The delicate portrayal of female psychology stands out, showing the intimidated daughter by her mother´s repression. [JANG Byungwon]
