At Casa Roshell of Mexico City the light is on but the table is empty. The club gets busy with people preparing. Men are shaving, changing clothing, tidying hair, and powdering faces. The camera focuses not only on them but on what they see through the mirror. The music starts, liquor is served, and the place becomes alive. People comfortably chat and the talk itself is little important. Casa Roshell walks the boundaries between man and woman, gay, straight, bisexual, the past & present, and reality & fiction. With Naomi Campbell(2013), director Donoso received unprecedented attention and she looks into space and identity with Casa Roshell. This little utopia is a place of ´turmoil´ and ´whispers,´ a hard place to define. It is a poetic documentary where the distinction between reality and illusion of nirvana is vague. [JANG Byungwon]
