Project N juxtaposes the late former president Roh Moo-hyun´s journey to become a presidential candidate and his presidency with the testimonials from his people. At first, the director planned to show how Roh´s success or failure is equivalent to that of the Korean society. Then he changed to focus on ‘citizens’ during production and editing. Regionalism was an obstacle for this prominent politician. After losing election after election, it was surprising when he became the presidential candidate, thanks to the citizens who voluntary sacrificed to support his will to eliminate regionalism. The director hints that the evaluation of Roh’s works will change depending on the maturity of the Korean civil society. The film meets famous politicians and others who recollect late Roh’s personal history behind his political career. [KIM Youngjin]
