    Isle of Dogs

It’s Wes Anderson’s 9th feature and 2nd animation, on a background of future Japanese. As ‘Dog Flu’ virus is spread, dogs with canine teeth are banned in a junk island for safety. Little boy Atari goes to the island to find his beloved pet dog, where he meets five dogs and has an adventure with them. Isle of Dogs, influenced by Kurosawa Akira’s animations, shows the wide view of Wes Anderson to modern days. While The Grand Budapest Hotel(2014) conveyed a love story in the European war history, with a fairy-tale-ish and fablelike touch, Isle of Dogs is a story about a friendship between dogs and a human being dreaming of a new era. The drama between dogs and a boy is expected to rise in a new revolution of politically neglected people. Voice actors represent various characters. This film opened the Berlin International Film Festival and won the Silver Bear this year.
