PROGRAM - World Cinemascape - World Cinemascape: Masters for Shorts

World Cinemascape: Masters for Shorts

  • World Cinemascape: Masters demonstrates current establishment and works brought by famous writers of the same age, Jim Jarmusch, Abbas Kiarostami, Dardenne brothers, Sergei Loznitsa, Thomas Arslan, and Pablo Larrain. Nocturama by Bertrand Bonello is a narration of resistance and fall. Take Me Home, which is a short film and a posthumous work of Kiarostami, is his last bow to integrate the world of the mysterious director, who goes around gaps between films and reality. Neruda,
which is a historical drama as well as a portrait of the time, vividly describes the past of the poet, Neruda, who tried to cross the border. Through Austerlitz, Loznitsa delivers a film version of the work done by Sebald, the name of German literature. Andrei Konchalovsky, one of the directors representing Russia, directed Paradise and showed the power of a veteran. These works clearly note that not only they are the ones who lead the world of cinema, but also they are revolutionists who still rebuild new film languages and demolish cinema world at their current place.

There is a collection of short films worth of special recognition. Practice Films, which are complied as 'World Cinemascape: Masters Shorts 2', are excavation work of Jacques Rivette, who recently passed away. These works are important ones to witness views of director. These films will bring a great deal of pleasure by offering the early days of
Nouvelle Vague including Jean Luc Godard.
