Handagama’s new film shows the reality of suppressed women and the destruction of family. His melodramatic sentiment was brought to a middle-class family. The story shows the circulation of women’s life and the suppression of patriarchal society. A female student seduces a professor and his family falls into chaos. With her determination, the wife speaks for the position of women in Sri Lanka and denounces the irony of patriarchal society. His previous film Him, Here, After was a gaze on a troubled family with a retired fighter. In this film, a woman makes another woman suffer and a hypocrite stands in the middle. Handagama’s drama shows that the pain of life doesn’t belong to individual but is shared by the society. The woman’s tears represent the tears of every woman. (LEE Sang-yong)
