Review

The story deals with the most turbulent time of a middle-aged man who seems solitary and vulnerable. He who used to torture people in the Pinochet regime, struggles to find his purpose of being. Away from his wife and daughter, he tries to find his identity but gets lost between the ghosts of the past and obsession. Redemption from past sins is the key premise of the film. In his debut feature, Guzzoni, who used to be a documentarist, tries to investigate the past and human rather than political implications. The film caused controversy on the sympathetic description for devil. It contains a number of claustrophobic, uncomfortable scenes. It won awards at the San Sebastian, South by Southwest, and Goteborg. (JANG Byungwon)
