Review

A guide to the world of Brian De Palma, an exceptional filmmaker. It is quite interesting that Baumbach attempted to explore De Palma. Based on a vast amount of interviews, Noah co-directed this with Jake Paltrow. Basic structure is simple. De Palma explains his entire filmography from films influenced by Hitchcock to B-rated movies to hollywood blockbusters. The documentary is valuable that it helps us to understand the films of De Palma, a pioneer of creative film language. Like watching DVD audio commentaries, the film showcases De Palma’s films The Fury, Blow Out, Sisters, Carrie, Scarface, Calito’s Way, and Mission Impossible. (JANG Byungwon)
