Review

A faithful adaptation of the novel of the same name by Johanna Spyri. A young girl who lives with her grandfather is sent to Frankfurt where she befriends Clara, a girl confined to a wheelchair. Heidi refreshes Clara with her charming friendliness but becomes terribly homesick. She returns to her grandfather and Clara heads to the Alps to meet her friend. Based on the love and friendship, the film shows a contrast between city and nature. Clara’s illness in the city is healed by Heidi from the mother nature. Bruno Ganz and Anuk Steffen show brilliant performance in the breathtaking scenery. This great family film topped the Switzerland box office when released. (JANG Byungwon)
