Review

Men & Chicken is a black comedy about a mystery of an extraordinary family. After his father’s death, Gabriel calls his brother Elias and they hear a shocking recording left by their father. They are actually step-brothers with different mothers adopted by father. The two bizarre brothers decide to search for their roots. The director is a talented screenwriter who wrote A Second Chance and In A Better World. The two brothers’ adventure of exploring their identity progresses with the typical grotesque mood that Danish movies have. It is intriguing to see how this film plays with expectation and convention of a genre, leading its way towards an unexpected direction, along with a blend of heartless violence and humor. Some of the most renowned actors of Denmark like Mads Mikkelsen, David Dencik and Nicolaj Lie Kaas make a cultish harmony together by destructing themsleves hideously. (JANG Byungwon)
