Review

Seongdu graduates from a reputable law school and pretends to be preparing for the bar exam at his mother’s urging. However, he’s actually only interested in coffee and works in a cafe that his late father used to own. Eventually, his mother finds out and he runs off to his aunt who runs an old coffee shop in another province. Seongdu wants to save the old coffee shop and his aunt reluctantly agrees. He changes the name of the coffee shop to Star Park’s and renovates the interior but none of the elderly locals are interested. Seongdu may just have to start delivering coffee. Like Barbie(2012), this is a rare Lee Sangwoo movie that is not rated R. The theme is the rehabilitation of characters but the director’s distinct, troubled perspective on the world is powerfully present. (KIM Youngjin)
