Review

The latest film from Eugene Green (La Sapienza). The Dardenne brothers co-produced it. The only links with the Dardenne brothers is the fact that it is a religious, moral drama based on Biblical motifs. Vincent living with his single mom decides to find his father who left him. His father Oscar is an influential publisher. While searching for identity, the boy is disappointed with his corrupt father and tries to take revenge. Meeting with his half brother Joseph gives Vincent a chance of redemption. Actors’ performance of reciting lines like puppets reminds us of Bresson’s stylized direction. Paintings such as The Sacrifice of Isaac by Caravaggio, and Joseph the Carpenter by de La Tour supports the context and message of the narrative. (JANG Byungwon)
