The latest documentary by Pere Portabella, a great Spanish master who has supported political avant-garde and radicalism. General Report II. The New Abduction of Europe is like the sequel to his monumental film about the last days of the Franco government and the establishment of a democratic government in 1976. This film assesses on various levels the contemporary crises that people face and conducts a detailed probe into how economic, social, political, and ecological crises are formed. It deals with the people’s desire for a new way of life and the appearance of new political and social figures that will form this city and the industry. Documents, interviews, montages, history and interpretation are used to make the audience aware of the cinematic techniques and styles as well as the theme at the same time. (JANG Byungwon)
