The Park follows the camera’s point of view as it moves slowly through a park that’s been shut down in the middle of the city. The film depicts the teenagers who frequent the abandoned park and also sketches the circumstances of their aimless lives. The film’s images mimic Google Street View and clearly shows that it drew inspiration from social networks. Director Randa Maroufi is a multi-artist who works with photography film, and installation art. This is an experimental short that uses the rhetoric of media images to give form to youth’s sentiments and sense of identity. (JANG Byungwon)
