Victor invites his grown-up children, Sasha, Romeo, Cosma, and Gilda to a dinner. At first it looks like a peaceful meal convened by a generous father before it turned to merciless arguments on the abortion. Divided opinions lead to the disclosure of father’s dark history and family secrets. In searching for the root of family conflicts, the film focuses on the mechanisms of their craziness, not on the different views or human mistakes. The abrupt turn of a peaceful family meal and unexpected secrets lead the tension to the boiling point. The story evolves from observing human behavior within the boundary of law, insitution, and taboo to more universal subjects beyond Rumanian history and culture. The director, who is a member of Romanian new wave, presents a film filled with explosive energy. (JANG Byungwon)
