Review

Dreaming of fame, an unknown actor in Denver Arthur Martinez works as a computer repairman. He met two independent filmmakers Nathan Silver and Mike Ott and hired them to make a film. His role as a producer, actor and co-creator makes unexpected noises in the film production. Actor Martinez follows the self-consciousness of the actor in the production by recording actress auditioning, opinion exchanges and the play within the play scenes. While realizing his dream, Martinez falls into unexpected terror and nightmare. Outwardly the film is a documentary on an actor. However, while Nathan and Mike follow the reality and consciousness of the protagonist and the process of creation, the two raises new questions. What is cinema? What is acting? How do creative activities occur in filmmaking? The film is an introspective documentary on the terror and mystery of film production. (JANG Byungwon)
