Review

Eva, an aging, alcoholic actress receives treatment in a rehab and comes home but no one welcomes her. Her only son who was in his grandmother’s care for Eva’s career doesn’t accept his mother. This is a portrait of a groundless middle-aged woman with her pain and loneliness. She is neither an actress nor a mother any longer. In the solitude and silence, the film gazes her and shows the meaningless and weight of life. It takes a classic approach of focusing on a character. Showcased in the Discovery section, the film won the FIPRESCI award at Toronto. A serious portrait of a woman. (LEE Sang-yong)
