SYNOPSIS

Born as a son of an Ulsan shipyard worker, Sangmoon is into surfing in his mid-20s and wanders abroad getting daily jobs. He is engrossed in surfing and making surfboards. He returns to Korea and settles seaside village in Gangwon-do. He earns a living by repairing surfboards and teaching surfing. One day, he decides to make surfboards out of building materials, instead of styrene. There is a series of hardships in producing his own boards. What is Sangmoon looking for in his life that is misunderstood even by his parents?

Born in 1982, Ulsan. Majored in film. He has mostly worked on dance films and documentaries that explore movements. He currently focuses on ethnographic recording, generational discourse, and minority.

The director of Artist Group 3355. Majored and mastered in literature. She creates performances and films, and also writes poems. She won the Emerging Poet Prize at Twenty-First Century Literature Award 2015 and the Grand Prize at Play Act Dance Art-Tech Film Festival 2019. Carving A Trout (literal title) is her third work with director Heo Seong, followed by Srey_Biak Filmic Ethnography (2017, literal title) and Asylum Log (2018).
