Frontline

Frontline is a collection of the most unique and imaginative films, which has been introduced on the front line of cinema topology with issues raising questions and arguments, controversial worldviews, and innovative film styles. This year, we have chosen the films that refuse to settle for present, cater diverse tastes and pursue the renewal of contents and forms regardless of nationality, genre and narration way.
La Flor, in six episodes with 888 minutes, which was one of the most controversial film of the international film festival community in 2018, and Present.Perfect., in footage video format, that takes a view of the impoverished reality of Chinese society through the new media platform of YouTube. They testify in interesting ways the differentiation of the cinema art form.
Heimat is a Space in Time reflects on the German history of shame on the 30th anniversary of unification, Erased, Ascent of the Invisible, resurrects those who have been lost by the violence of state power by actively utilizing the elements of the film language, such as text, images and animation, Our Defeats, tries to escape from defeatism by looking back on previous films that resisted the mainstream. Still Recording, a documentary that vacillates between artistic self- consciousness and sterile reality. Delphine and Carole is about the video collaboration between actress Delphine Seyrig, who evolved in feminist movements in the 1970s, and film director Carole Roussopoulos. They deal with the relationship between history, politics, humanity and art in a radical form.
In addition, Thunder Road followed a strange odyssey of a “loser” policeman who lost his mother. Searching Eva raises the issues of generation, gender, media, and ethics through the unscrupulous lifestyle of a sex worker. The Kamagasaki Cauldron War is mixed with anarchism, cannibalism and slapstick comedy, Germany. A Winter´s Tale is a dark allegory dealing with the depths of violence and fascism based on the Neo-Nazi terrorist group. Blonde Animals, that satirizes the era of loss through pointless narrative, lead audiences to many inconvenient truths in actual society.
