Review

At first glance, Osmosis takes the form of a traditional documentary that objectively observes the rural landscape and the work and traditions of people who raise animals with the eyes of a stranger. However, director ZHOU Tao makes various attempts to intervene the audiences’ viewpoints without intervening the lives of the local people. In a world that is sometimes cruel and appears as if time stood still, the director’s camera keeps a distance from people and nature to show respect for their lives and beings. Moreover, throughout the long sequence, it presents that the human form is another element of nature. [Sung MOON]
