Review

On September 26, 2014, 6 people died and 43 students disappeared in Mexico. Chinese activist and artist Ai WEIWEI brings back the disappeared through the stories of families of missing people. The film removes techniques using traditional documentary style and focuses on the individual tragedy that can be explained only by numbers and the testimonies that lay history. The interviews reveal that the missing children are not only laving and precious beings for their family but also human beings as social entities seeking life changes with willpower. This film, that displays the humanitarian crisis of Mexico government, tells not only that the truth has not been investigated, but also the children who remain unknown due to disappearance are “the living” that exist forever in their families.
