Review

Based on the ONDA Riku’s novel of the same name, the film portrays the young pianists’ friendship and aspiration during a piano competition. The main characters are: Aya, who was known as a child prodigy, but vanished after her mother passed away, Akashi, who is the head of the household but continues his dream of performing music, Juilliard graduate elite Masaru, and disciple of a legendary pianist Jin. The competition is fierce, but for these young musicians, it seems more important to develop and polish their own music than winning each other. Most of all, the charm of this film is the music of BEETHOVEN, CHOPIN, LISZT, RACHMANINOFF, BARTÓK, and SATIE. The symmetrical images or narrative structures similar to movements make the film feel like a splendid concert. [MOON Seok]
