Followed by Polly One, Polly Two tries to reconcile the celestial event which is not observable among human-being. The two short films will be installed in two separate channels at the Expanded Plus, experimenting the limits of human perception if the two channel could be simultaneously observed.
“Polly,” a two-part series of films documenting the eclipse, is directed by Kevin Jerome Everson. Polly One is dedicated to his grandmother who passed away the day prior to the solar eclipse in August 2017. He filmed the sky above in North Carolina in 16mm with an unconventional lens and gained swirling images. Polly Two was shot in black-and- white to capture the shadow of Moon moving around the surface of the Sun. Contrasting the Sun’s abstract drifts, the films are installed with two channels on two screens facing each other.
