So Cute

Korea 2004 116min 35mm color feature Fiction
Review

This is the story of four men and one woman living in an old apartment which is to be demolished soon. Jang Su-ro is a shaman and his three sons lust for the same woman at the same time. This story of depravity is actually full of humor and nonsense. Director Kim stays around characters with long-takes and comes closer to them to observe their feelings. No signs of guilt and moral exist there, but their lusts are just pathetic. Among the films of the 21st century, this one is the strangest but most important film which has been little understood.
