Review

The film represents the modernism of Korean cinema in the 1960s. After the mysterious death of photographer Chul-hun, police start investigating a novel he tried to write. The film tells the absolute alienation of a person who couldn’t stand the materialization of his self. He is forced to adapt to social order and feels that he is becoming like camera lens. The film is quite ideological and radical compared to other films. The film shows the pessimism of intellectuals against the society that marches toward the modernization. [KIM Youngjin]
